Sunbeds vs Sunbathing

When it comes to getting that perfect tan, there are two options: hitting the tanning salon or soaking up some natural rays through sunbathing. But our hit-and-miss British weather presents a challenge for those who want to keep their glow topped up all year round!

Sunbeds offers a reliable alternative, allowing you to maintain a steady tan when outdoor sunlight is scarce. While some may worry about artificial UV light, it’s important to note that sunbeds can produce UVA and UVB rays similar to those emitted by the sun. But it's important to remember that as sunbeds emit UV radiation in a controlled environment, the effects are a lot stronger than being in the sun.

Everyone has different skin so it's important to remember that everyone's tanning journey, and results, will be too. We always tell our customers to go by one golden rule: Tan for the skin you have, not the skin you want.

When considering your session length, it’s essential to understand the differences between sunbeds and sunbathing. Take a look at the table below to help you understand the equivalent of sunbed minutes vs time in the sun.

Got 5 minutes?

A very common sunbed myth is that longer sessions are better for getting a tan and that "five minutes won't do anything", but as you can see, five minutes on a sunbed is equivalent to ONE HOUR in the natural sun!

So next time you only have five minutes to spare, whether it's before the school run or after work, don't stress - that is plenty of time to get your tan on and gain some gorgeous colour.
